Kia ora tātou

Kia ora tātou i roto i ngā pōrarutanga me ngā tini ahuatanga o te wā nei. Ko te tumanako e noho haumaru ana koutou ahakoa te taumaha o te urutā nei. Piki te kaha, piki te ora, piki te manaaki tātou ki a tātou.

Mindful of the daily updates on COVID-19 Alert Lockdown levels, my offering at this point in time, to whanau in our wider Māori business community, is to please keep whanau safe, be vigilant and especially adhere to the stipulations laid out by our government agencies and their respective representatives. While impossible to maintain 'business as usual' Te Kupenga - our Māori Economic Business Unit has pulled together information on these COVID-19 focussed web pages. I encourage you to revisit them and share in your networks.

Never before has strength in numbers and unity been so critical. Community spirit and resilience are not new concepts for Māori, and are more important than ever with these challenges. Take heart in knowing there is government support available and agencies are working to get it to whanau and businesses with the most immediate need. It is a dynamic challenge and we must equally adapt, together. This is not the first time we have had to face such a challenge and undoubtedly it won’t be the last but we do so in the knowledge we are all on this journey together.

Robin Hapi, Chair Māori Economic Development Advisory Board

Kia hora te marino

Kia whakapapa pounamu te moana

Kia tere te kārohirohi I mua I tō huarahi

May the calm be widesparead

May the seas glisten like greenstone

May the light shimmer before your pathway.

The Māori Innovation Fund (MIF) team is trying to maintain ‘Business as Usual’ so will continue to pay invoices, as well as, monitor and support progress.

However, during the lockdown period please expect delays.  We understand some collectives may not be able to progress any work with their Commercial Advisors.  Some of you may need extensions to your contracts past the end date of 31 July 2020.  The MIF team will take the necessary steps to ensure contract variations are activated if needed, and we will communicate directly once the COVID 19 lockdown is over.  Until then, please carry on as best as you can and keep check back here for updates.

The information you have been receiving via email applies. We intend  contacting you about your application by the end of April. Also, keep checking here for further updates.
